Friends of St. Aloysius Foundation
Friends of St. Aloysius Foundation is a 501c3 organization whose mission is “Keeping Catholic Education Strong
in our Community.”

Friends supports the faculty and administration of the school through yearly bonuses in order to attract and retain top faculty. Friends offers a Tuition Reimbursement program which provides stipends to teachers at the school who are working toward a Master's degree in Education. Friends supports the Religious Education and Youth Ministry programs at the Parish through yearly grants. These grants allow the Religious Education program to bring in speakers for the parish community and to purchase equipment and materials for over 1,200 children who attend religious formation classes and the over 100 volunteer catechists who teach the children. The CCD tuition paid by parents only covers a portion of the costs associated with running and maintaining our extremely large CCD program. The growing Youth Ministry program has used their grants to provide scholarships for high school students who attend mission trips each summer.

Fundraising Events

The Board of Friends traditionally holds two fundraisers each school year: the Fall Letter Campaign and a Spring Gala.

This year’s gala will take place on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Woodway Country Club in Darien. The Gala is a wonderful opportunity to meet friends and help Friends continue in its worthwhile mission.

Your generous donations in 2011 to the Letter Campaign and Gala are much appreciated and provide a strong foundation for our giving this academic year. Our 2011 grant distributions totaled $126,000 and the endowment is currently $275,000.

Dr. Donald Howard was honored at the Gala with the 2011 Friend of St. Aloysius Award. The Friend Award was established by the Board of Directors to honor members of the St. Aloysius community who have exemplified the character and ideals of our Catholic faith. Under Dr. Howard’s leadership and guidance our school was able to achieve national recognition with the Blue Ribbon for Excellence Award.  Parents, staff and especially our children all respect and admire Dr. Howard’s commitment and contributions to our community.

Our 2011 distributions are as follows:
