Friends of St. Aloysius Foundation

Friends of St. Aloysius Foundation is a 501c3 organization whose mission is “Keeping Catholic Education Strong in our Community.”

Friends supports the faculty and administration of the school through yearly bonuses in order to attract and retain top faculty. Friends also offers a Tuition Reimbursement program which provides stipends to teachers at the school who are working toward a Master's degree in Education. Friends also supports the Religious Education and Youth Ministry programs at the Parish through yearly grants. These grants allow the Religious Education program to bring in speakers for the parish community and to purchase equipment and materials for over 1,200 children who attend religious formation classes and the over 100 volunteer catechists who teach the children. The CCD tuition paid by parents only covers a portion of the costs associated with running and maintaining our extremely large CCD program. The growing Youth Ministry program has used their grants to provide scholariships for high school students who attend mission trips each summer. In order to support long-term education projects in the St. Aloysius community, Friends began an Endowment fund, which now stands at over $219,000. To date, the foundation has distributed over $927,000 to these very worthy causes. For more financial information click here to download a .pdf of the 2007 Annual Statement.

Friends raises funds each year by holding an annual letter writing campaign in the Fall, and by hosting a Winter Ball where the community comes together to celebrate the Parish and the mission of Friends. Each year Friends honors a member of our community at the Winter Ball who embodies the living mission of Friends. Reverend Bishop William E. Lori was the Friends Honoree in 2007. Past honorees include Leo Karl Jr. and Donald Hersam. This year Friends successfully raised over $110,000 from these events. The money raised is distributed to grant recipients at the annual board meeting in June of each year. Click here to view the photos of past Winter Balls and parish events.

Beginning in September, Friends will give parishioners an opportunity to purchase a brick that can be engraved with the text of your choice to commemorate a special event like a First Holy Communion, Wedding or Baptism, memorialize a loved one or honor a special teacher or person in your life. The bricks will be placed in the sidewalk entrances to the church building. We will begin selling bricks at the Fall Family Picnic on September 15th, after the 10:00 masses in September, in the weekly parish bulletin and here on the website.
