Parish Council

Council Members 2006 - 2007

Carol Pinard

It has been my privilege for the past 25 years to serve the families of St. Aloysius Parish as Coordinator of Religious Education and in this capacity to also sit as a member of the Parish Council. My husband Bob and I lived here in New Canaan with our three children. We now have three grandchildren and reside in Stamford.

Over the years, I have seen many changes and growth in our program and our parish. When I first began, I worked for Monsignor McGuire. There were approximately 300 children registered for religious education and classes were offered two afternoons each week. Under the stewardship of Monsignor Cullen and now Monsignor Scheyd, our program now serves over 1100 children in grades 1-8 and classes are held on 4 afternoons and one evening each week. In addition there are 36 home groups preparing our 7 & 8Th graders for the sacrament of Confirmation. Over 100 dedicated catechists help us meet the challenge of bringing the Good News to our parish children.

On a personal note, even as a second grader, I knew I wanted to work in some capacity in the church. For most of my adult life this has been a reality: first working in New Hampshire in a small parish religious education program and then coming to St. Aloysius Parish. During my many years here I have come to know parents, children and then their children as well. We are truly a parish who embodies generations of faith.

I believe I am truly fortunate to serve with so many wonderful people in the Lord’s Vineyard.
