Leo. E. Karl, Jr
I was born in New Canaan in 1929 and have never left, except for traveling. My school education began at the Little Red School House on Carter Street where I was taught by my aunt Mary Kelley, New Caanan High School, and graduated in the first class from Fairfield University in 1951.
St. Aloysius Activities- Alter boy through high school, usher at 7a.m. Mass since 1944, Boy Scout St. Aloysius Troop 45 Assistant Leader for several years, member of father J. H. Stapleton Council 2287 Knights of Columbus since 1948, have worked on every St. Aloysius and Diocesan Fund drive from 1954 top the present- including St. Aloysius School, new church construction, Stapleton Hall conversion to Rectory/offices and church renovation. I was appointed to St. Aloysius Advisory Board in 1965 by Msgr. McGuire and elected to two three year terms- three times Secretary, four times President. In 1971 Msgr. McGuire appointed me as a Parish Trustee and I am also a founding member of the Parish Finance Committee and member of Friends of St. Aloysius Board.
Personal Activities- married Katherine Horan in 1959- 10 children- 16+ grandchildren- member of Lion’s Club, Board of Human Services 1961-2005, Chamber of commerce member and Board of Governors of the Historical society.
My family comes first but St. Aloysius is a close second. My life has been very blessed!
