Liturgical Ministries and Support

ALTAR SERVERS, ADULT
– are men and women who will assist the priest during funeral Masses on weekdays and Saturdays.

ALTAR SERVERS, YOUTH
– are boys and girls, age 10 through high school assist the priest during the liturgy on Sundays, Holy Days and for special occasions.

COMMUNION CALLS TO THE SICK AND HOMEBOUND
– is a ministry in which trained members of the laity bring Eucharist during visits to shut-ins and those who are ill or alone. They also make hospital visits, however, they do not offer the Eucharist at these visits.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
– is held every first Friday, October-June in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel from 10:00 AM-9:00 PM. A priest will begin with prayers and the Rosary before the Blessed Sacrament. Parishioners are always needed to fill time slots for keeping our Lord company.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS
– are parishioners who are chosen and commissioned by the Pastor and the Diocese to serve at weekday and weekend Masses as assigned. The ministers also bring Holy Communion to Catholic patients at Waveny Care Center, Silver Hill Hospital and New Canaan Inn, Sundays, Holy Days, and when a special request is made. At-home communion is also offered for those who are homebound. Eucharistic Ministers also visit parishioners who are in Stamford and Norwalk Hospitals.

LECTORS, ADULT
– are parishioners who proclaim the Word of God with understanding and clarity. They serve at all weekend Masses, Holy Days and special liturgies.

LECTORS, TEEN
– are teens who proclaim the Word of God with understanding and clarity at the Sunday 5:00 PM Teen Mass.

MASS DRIVERS
– bring elderly and/or shut-in parishioners to Saturday evening or Sunday Mass. Valid drivers license, a safe vehicle, and a clean driving required.

SACRISTY MINISTRY & LITURGY SUPPORT
– housekeeping for the sacristy, plus helping prepare the Church for special Masses, seasonal changes, and events that require any special touches.

USHERS AND GREETERS
– greet people when they come into Church. They are also available to answer questions and respond to emergencies. When the Mass is crowded, they will help families or individuals find a seat. They also take up the collection and distribute bulletins at the end of Mass.
